What program should I pursue for entrance into medical professional schools?

I just finished my first year of a fairly prestigious medical sciences undergrad program. It was very difficult to get into this program and its advantages include small class size, good extracurricular/research opportunities, and financial aid. However, the program has a severe grading system (at least 93% for an A). Alternatively, I could transfer into a biological sciences program which would allow me to get higher marks (only 86% for an A) and still take all my prerequisite courses.

My question: Which program should I be in if I hope to be admitted to med school or optometry school?

Any science program will give you a good chance of getting into med school. My advice is pick the program that you enjoy the most. You're going to be in it the next 3 years or so. I'm in a program that you have to get at least 80% or you fail the classes, but I love what I'm learning about, so it is worth the extra effort. It is better than hating your 4 years of college before med school.
