What are the chances of medical advance that leads to real cure of illnesses when the main biological researching is paid by the pharma industry that gets its profit leaving us still sick but alive and medicated for as many years as possible?

Nope. Medical sciences do not really cure the real cause of illnesses. Medical sciences either address the symptoms (e.g., you have a headache, you take a pill to numb your brain from feeling the headache) or the start of a symptom (e.g., you are scared of getting the flu so you take a vaccine to stop the flu - but the flu is just a symptom of a vira infection).





We should give the pharma industry some credit as well. They are not making profits necessarily - because development of drugs actually take some time and a billion of dollars. Developing a flu vaccine, for example, is done on a yearly basis depending on emerging trends. Imagine the hours needed to study, predict, simulate, and then make a pronouncement on which vius is it going to be in 2006, and then mass producing it and delivering it to the entire world. That should cause millions.





There are also a number of pharma companies which have a strong social responsibility ethic. Sure, they make some mistakes along the way - and perhap, critical mistakes. But they're human.
Reply:Medicine do not cure. Doctors do not cure. You cure yourself by keeping fit, healthy diet and maintaining healthy relationships.
Reply:Zilch, because we all reside on the planet earth in the year 2006. But your view of big pharma may benefit from some professional counseling.
Reply:The present medical science through the present pharmacology cannot achieve that. In fact the medical science is creating more severe illnesses for tomorrow just by healing today's light illness. We don't have another solution as on today. If we want a real cure, the illnesses need to be treated from the root cause and not from the end result. That too through a system that is not harmful to the body systems.





Diverting to Holistic Medicines, living in the most natural ways etc. are the solutions.

There's no absolute cure. Even viruses never stop to mutate as we speak.
Reply:Curing all illnesses? No chance of that happening. This is the material world and there will always be disease here. Its a built-in feature of this world. We're not here to be happy. We're here to learn that we cannot be happy without the service of the Supreme Lord. This material world is designed like a prison house for rectifying the fallen souls who have chosen to try and be enjoyers separate from the Lord. But because it is not possible to be happy separate from the Lord, we suffer here -- repeated birth, death, disease and old age. The only permanent cure for all disease is to get out of this material world, get out of this prison house, and go back home, back to Godhead, the transcendental world.
Reply:I've always felt that since so much is being spent on the military, they should take up the research in medicine. You see so many scary scenarios in movies. All the conspiracy theories aside, besides killing they should also try to find ways to preserve life.
